It's really a pretty simple rule for how to cite your sources, one any Ph.D. candidate is more than qualified to understand: how to use quote marks. Omitting them is stealing the words and passing them off as your own. She and all other persons of this stature know this full well, and so stating that she isn't to blame, for whatever reason they pull out of their hat, means that Harvard now must change its plagiarism rules for ALL students, now must pardon students who have been sanctioned (expelled?) for similar actions, and now must, going forward, lower its standards for academic honesty (which now allow for copycatting.) So..... now Harvard, the gold standard of academia, is looking not so best-in-class. Forever their reputation will bear this mark. All to protect their woke figurehead from her just deserts. What a price!
