U.S. pharmaceutical giant Pfizer is taking the Polish government to court over missing payments for 60 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine it developed with BioNTech.
The lawsuit, which comes as Poland prepares for a change in government following its October election, marks the culmination of a 19-month struggle between Warsaw and Pfizer over a glut of vaccine doses.
But the roots of the clash can be traced back further: to the enormous 1.1 billion-dose contract the European Commission signed with Pfizer in 2021, which has become controversial for the reported exchange of text messages between Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla in the run-up to negotiations.
"Pfizer and BioNTech are seeking to hold Poland to its commitments for COVID-19 vaccine orders placed by the Polish Government, as part of their contract to supply the European Union signed in May 2021," a spokesperson for Pfizer told POLITICO, adding that BioNTech is also joining the proceedings.
According to Polish newspaper Gazeta Prawa, Pfizer brought the civil case before a Brussels court because the doses were purchased through EU joint procurement contracts, drawn up under Belgian law.

“mRNA Off to a Bad Start but Future May be Brighter”

We all have the tendency to paint issues with a broad brush. That is to see things one way for intellectual simplicity. “All pharmaceuticals are bad” or “I don’t trust any vaccine.” It is even more tempting to take a negative view on all new technology when the product launch in humans fails to a large degree.
These old mental saws could apply to mRNA vaccines…
The Halma paper points out that safe mRNA products are possible. For example, properly designed mRNA coding for normal proteins that are deficient or ones that are sufficiently humanized and not recognized by the body as foreign could indeed become part of the future pharmacopeia. But there is no doubt that the first use of mRNA on a mass, indiscriminate scale has been a disaster with the COVID-19 vaccine campaign.

Every single drug development scientist like myself knew damn well that no product brought to market, even using existing and proven manufacturing approaches, would be safe and/or effective in such a timeframe. "Warp Speed" musta meant pharma going to the bank.
The entire year of 2020 was a classic hoax. A joke. Once you suborn process, something is up.
Complete and utter nonsense from every "scientist" and "doctor" that promoted it in the first place. Most 'doctors' don't know crap about the stuff they stick into their bodies other than what their specialty is, and even then they don't mechanisms of action or delivery systems.
Did anyone wonder why they didn't know what temp to deliver the product? What was the batch to batch reproducibility at lab, scale-up, and tech transfer stages? Oh, did I forget to mention...how did the animals fare in the pre-clin trials? What was the ADME in those models? Dosing? ED/LD? ...two animal models? When does it turn on/off? Oh, did I forget to mention during any lead candidate, what was the fidelity of translation with this new product? Pass the nuclear barrier? RevTrans? How about the tox/gen? How about after the mfg process?
Meanwhile...early treatments...nah, that wonder drug we couldn't use. Only won a nobel. smh
