Our esteemed PM, a la Ceaușescu, has fled the capital like a little girl.
Canada is a country that is governed by the consent of the governed. American and other international observers may be puzzled by the lack of police presence at the Ottawa demonstrations. There are two reasons for this.
One, police are unnecessary. This crowd will not loot, burn, pillage, or maim. They haven't even broken a window. This is Canada. They are citizens, taxpayers, voters.
This isn't a BLM rally.
Two, the police/military force in Canada does not exist in numbers sufficient to confront these demonstrators. The Ottawa Police Force is outnumbered and not trained to "confront" the truckers. The OPP are not going to mobilize, they don't have the manpower either. Ditto for the RCMP. The army is a tiny force drawn from the same cohort as the truckers. They are not going to confront their brothers and fathers and neighbors.
The only way the trucks are going to leave Ottawa is if the truckers move them.
What the media isn't telling you is that crowds of ordinary Canadians (fringe elements with unacceptable ideas) gathered at every intersection and laneway from BC to Ottawa to cheer these guys on. They were waving flags and honking horns and standing in zero weather to show their support. I witnessed it.
I think the politicians are taking notice.

Canadians are not going to be ruled by decree.
The Australian truckies are on their way to Canberra. Doubtful that the corporatised media will follow the story.
