We would like to provide further context to help address any misunderstanding that may have occurred. If an animal’s owner is arrested, the City of Ottawa will place the animal in protective care. This is done to ensure the animal can be cared for during the owner’s incarceration. It is not a confiscation. A common concern that has been voiced in the past weeks is if a protestor who brought their pet is arrested, how will their pet be cared for? By placing the animal in protective care, the animal will be fed and sheltered while their owner can make arrangements for their pet’s care. We would like to clarify that the City of Ottawa placing an animal in protective care is a standard protocol to ensure the animal can receive care and maintain their wellbeing while their owner is unable to provide for them. At the OHS, animals are never euthanized because of length of stay or lack of space. Humane euthanasia is only considered for animals that are injured or ill — with no reasonable chance of recovery or whose needs are greater than our resources – or animals that are aggressive/overly dominant, have an unstable temperament or behaviour issues that we do not have the resources to resolve.

You take the animal in the state in which you find them and should maintain them as such. As you know animals who have been seized may react negatively to their new conditions. It is unreasonable to then claim the animal is aggressive or sick in order to euthanize them. Surely there are people in Ottawa who don't care about the truckers but who will spend generously to donate money for the care of their animals. I would suggest an online funding source but, as you know, the government will confiscate the funds and likely order the animals slaughtered.

Toronto Police Mounted Unit officers pushed through a crowd at the Freedom Convoy protest in Ottawa yesterday and trampled at least two demonstrators.
VERY person on a horse that day needs to be in prison...PERIOD...!
I can only hope that this event of infamy will be indelibly written in everyone's mind and become the tipping point very much like the Boston Tea Party to effect positive changes in how people are governed and by whom...!
