All people need to do is stay home for a few days until past the incubation period. Quarantine has been utilized for centuries as an effective tool for keeping sick people from infecting others. VACCINES INJECT BILLIONS IN SAVINGS

The vaccine rollout saved the national economy $181bn in potential damage that could have been inflicted by ongoing lockdowns if a jab had been unavailable, new economic modelling says.
The peer-reviewed research also estimates the comparatively quick availability of vaccines against Covid-19 saved 142,000 jobs and prevented the pandemic knocking $395bn off gross domestic product.
The modelling, produced by consultancy Biointelect and Victoria University with support from Pfizer Australia, said the vaccine rollout also pumped $28bn into tourism exports and $26bn into education exports.
Biointelect co-founder and report author Jennifer Herz said the Therapeutic Goods Administration took on average of about 1375 days to approve a new vaccine under normal circumstances. “This demonstrates how important the process put in place for the Covid-19 vaccines was, which is a credit to the government and the Therapeutic Goods Administration,” she said.
The research said the comparatively timely rollout of vaccines reduced the economic impact of Covid to $214bn, which resulted in a positive benefit of $181bn.
Pfizer Australia & New Zealand managing director Anne Harris said funding evaluations of medicines and vaccines focused on patient health outcomes and health care systems costs.
Ms Harris said the broader impacts of the availability of medicine and vaccines, such as the benefit to the economy or productivity, should also be considered. “I think as we move forward, we need to recognise the value on health and both the broader societal impacts,” she said.
“And ... ensure Australians are at the front of the queue for all innovation in medicine and vaccines, not just during a pandemic.”
The federal government is reviewing assessment process for new health technologies.
“Often medicines and vaccines are seen as a cost not an investment and I think what was clear during the pandemic was Australians expect rapid access to vaccines and medicines,” she said.
The former Coalition government was pilloried over the speed of the vaccine rollout, which started in February 2021 but took until July to get going due to vaccine scarcity and hesitancy.
The speed of the rollout became a political battle between the federal government and the states as Melbourne and Sydney went into extended lockdowns. Former prime minister Scott Morrison blamed the states for the delays and they blamed the federal government for the shortages of vaccines.
