So with the random sample size that we did have, it became clear the rate within this population would have to be below this number.
While vaccines are not the only possible cause of diabetes, once you eliminate all vaccines from the picture, it's next to impossible to locate a "control" who has diabetes. This is true of just about every chronic condition or disorder in the U.S. population.
