He gave me this stare and I knew he was NO good. I told him what are you looking at and he drove off. I was going to run right up to a neighbors house, if I saw him stopping his van. Then one time 3 kids were in a park nearby. You would never think that someone would try and pick up kids. All three ran off and so did the van. Parents called police. Luckily, the older brother was there for the younger ones.
Yes. And I have had encounters also. People slow down, people stop on the side of the road to “ask directions” etc. I will always reach for my personal defense item and it usually makes the point before there is an interaction. One morning a trick with tinted windows pulled over and rolled down the window. I turned toward them and was walking backwards away from them. It was a woman asking for directions - and I kept making space between us and put my hand on my self defense device. I also was moving in the direction of houses and easy access to front doors. She gave up and drive away.
People are insane and a lot of bad actors are employing women to lure women in - that won’t happen to me. I will defend myself. Yet make sure you do not put earbuds in and can gear cars approaching. I never ever allow anyone to get close with my back turned. If I have to show I am prepared to defend myself I will. We are an open carry state so that makes it easier. God bless and be safe.
I know that people shouldn't be wearing earbuds. You are right. You can't even trust people asking for directions. Thank YOU for explaining. GOD BLESS and
That was my thought too - I can’t even trust someone stopping to ask directions. It’s true! Having the s Ulithi to protect yourself does take sone of the anxiety away.
One morning it was daybreak and I was walking behind a woman. She was maybe 1/4 Mile ahead But I kept getting closer to her but she seemed not to notice. I realized she was scrolling her phone and distracted so I walked to the side of her thinking she would hear me - she didn’t so I waved my hands and had to step in front of her and scared her to death. She also had ear buds in both ears!!
I told her I’d been behind her for almost 10 minutes and she didn’t even notice. I said imagine what could have happened to you -- NEVER wear those ear buds out here alone. It was shocking to me how unaware she was.
I’m sure The Lord put me there that morning just for her.

I'm glad I never wear the ear buds. I see some strange people that walk around my neighborhood, too. Thanks for sharing your experiences. :-)
