Or Israel which refused to sign the nuclear non-proliferation treaty and gets the support of the US on its ongoing development of those weapons! As for regional stability it seems to me that having other countries armed with nuclear weapons is their only protection against US hegemony and Israeli invasive attacks which is ongoing in the Mid-East. Getting real it was the US that un-necessarily dropped 2 bombs on Japan when that country was ready to give up. It was all a show of threatening power having nothing to do with peace. It was the US that illegally waged war in Viet Nam. It was the US that created a fiction in order to attack Iraq simply because that country resisted the US.
