I witnessed this dynamic in Canadian universities during the late seventies and eighties. If graduate thesis did not support a certain hypothesis the candidate did not graduate due to a failings grade.
Universities have long been indoctrination centers for confirmity but US universities are acknowledged the world over as the worst. During the cold war era there was groundbreaking research being done behind the Iron Curtain on topics like innate gender roles and their biological basis and the genetic and endocrinological determinants of homosexuality etc while in US universities even then students were being indoctrinated that gender is a social construct imposed by the patriarchy and can be changed and that heteronormativity is unnatural and homosexuality and pedophilia are natural and desirable etc.
Psychology, as construced and practiced, is the textbook clinical example of a Mass Formation Psychosis Narcissistic Pathology Paradigm. This is at minimum by own rules out of the box, objective hypocrisy test.

Surely you're not surprised. The money whores have always done this. Stanford was founded by a eugenicist who hired professors, e.g. David Starr Jordan (b. 1851), to research and teach eugenics. Rockefeller funded a lot of eugenics research at all the universities, not just Stanford. There was no end to the measures Jordan took to fudge his own Stanford research on genetic superiority and the need for laws on selective human breeding and sterilization of the unfit. Nearly every university (and state legislature) fell for it. Hitler was incubated in it. I just finished reading Lulu Miller's excellent book about Jordan, called Why Fish Don't Exist. Knowing what I know now about the long history of academic research corruption, and how it gets funded, and what happens when false science conclusions are used as propaganda to do horrible things, I just can't believe any published science from any of them any more.

Now we have major problems with schools granted ability to patent anything. So...schools cheat studies with future government grants in mind. Most universities are nothing like they used to be and most have gone so woke there is no hope for them. If people stop going to them, maybe they can get back to teaching inquisitive minds instead of indoctrinating them.
