The Almighty State contends that they own our children. Hilary Clinton first implanted this idea 25 years ago with "It Takes a Village". Now they want to own our adult selves, as well. We "little people" aren't smart enough to make our own choices, you see...

I remember my dad visiting a geography teacher who broke a ruler over my wrist. I hate to imagine how he would have responded to a doctor giving me an injection without his consent.

One more of many reasons not to live in CA. I may eventually be proven wrong, but I do not foresee this happening in my state (TX). We are receiving many transplants from CA and NY, hopefully the CA/NY craziness stays in the states they left behind, and they do not bring it with them.

I live in CA. The politicians are nuts and we can't vote them out because they cheat. I keep trying to talk my husband into moving out of state.

There's no way to get around it: whether in CA or another state, we are living in a culture that teaches our kids NOT to respect parental (or grandparent's, or aunts and uncle's, or their own family elder's) wisdom and authority. Please understand who you are relinquishing your authority and guidance to before enrolling your child in any daycare, school, or extracurricular activity, and please let your kids know every day how much you love and value them in every way. I'm tearing up for the kids whose relationships with their parents are so severed that they would go against their parents' wishes in this way, and raging against the law that would permit it.

The bill is a draft. It has not been passed (yet). DC already has a similar but worse statute, allowing 11 year olds to consent even if their parents object

Absolutely despicable. Children can’t consent to anything requires rational thinking bc the frontal lobe of their brain is not fully developed until 25 or 26. But a 12 year old can consent to medical care that involves injecting something into their body!? WTAF!?
