Man in Colorado had a Gila monster as a pet bit him and died.

Gila monster venom has multiple effects, including:

Immobilizing prey: The venom helps the Gila monster capture and envenomate its prey.

Defending itself: The venom helps the Gila monster defend itself.

Pain and hypotension: The venom contains kallikrein, which releases bradykinins that cause pain and hypotension.

Breaking down connective tissue: The venom contains hyaluronidase, which breaks down connective tissue attachments, allowing the venom to spread deeper into the victim's tissues.

Fluid loss: The venom can cause significant fluid loss through diarrhea, vomiting, and sweating. This can lead to a drop in potassium levels in the blood and metabolic acidosis.

Medicinal capabilities: The venom contains exendin-4, a hormone that's similar to the human hormone GLP-1. Exendin-4 can help stimulate insulin production, lower blood sugar, and reduce appetite. A synthetic version of exendin-4, called exenatide, was developed to treat type 2 diabetes. Another drug, semaglutide, which is marketed under the brand names Ozempic, Wegovy, and Rybelsus, is also based on the chemical composition of Gila monster venom and is used as a weight-loss treatment.

How does the GLP1 work in human body

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) is produced in the L-cells of the small intestine and colon. These cells are located in the mucosa of the distal part of the intestine.

GLP-1 is a 30-amino acid peptide hormone that's produced by processing the proglucagon gene. It has several functions, including: Promoting insulin secretion, Suppressing the secretion of pancreatic glucagon, Delaying gastric emptying, and Promoting satiety

Eating certain foods can increase GLP-1 levels naturally, including: whole grains, fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and water-rich fruits and vegetables

Some small studies also suggest that supplements like berberine, curcumin, and ginseng can increase GLP-1 levels

Foods with high polyphenols include spinach, green tea, apples, celery, asparagus, coffee and berries. Polyphenols also improve lipid profiles, reduce blood pressure and can lower insulin resistance and inflammation. Eating more GLP-1 boosting foods

most favorite, my dad would play that song when we were 7 years old in the islands and take us for long drives and it really for us, the age of the innocence.

Julie, every drug has side effects often damaging. Had a physical a few years ago and weighed 216. Heavy for me, my fighting weight had always been 176 lbs so doctor told me my pressure was a bit high and so was my sugar. She was going to prescribe statins but I refused so she told me to lose some weight.

In a year I was down to 176. Only water to drink. Sweets in moderation. No fast food. Two meals a day. I am still that weight and now it is static/locked in. Vital signs fine. Not climbing trees anymore but still giving it on the ground.

N0BODY NEEDS DRUGS TO LOSE WEIGHT. WE ALL KNOW THE NATURAL WAY IS THE BEST WAY.

Reject drugs unless serious.

I always decline medicine.

I am not overweight, Family genetics shaped my diabetes, my father and two of his sisters became late onset diabetics and my paternal grand mother died of kidney failure circa 1963. I’m one of five children - all diagnosed by age 51. All five of us were very active. Morbid obesity isn’t the only cause. I know that all drugs have side effects. Having said that you should be very proud of yourself. I don’t know how people with my genetics dodge the bullet.

Genetics as you know plays a role but the only thing that can best be done in such scenarios is to strictly control what we eat and drink. I did that to lose weight and have been a long time morning eater of three eggs for my morning meal. Well water is consumed in vast quantities, I refuse soft drinks, alcohol, tobacco, illicit and medical drugs, and eat huge quantities of spinach, garden grown veggies and fruit. Our meat is farm raised and processed ourselves wild game included. So I myself control what I eat strictly. Water is the only liquid that needs no processing by the body. |Most drinks are diuretic. Doctors tell me the best thing for anyone is to be active physically. My work is demanding and that keeps me fit but I do exercise too. In my youth my refusal to smoke and to use alcohol made a big difference to the better. Soft drinks are largely bottled using polluted and chemical laden water. Many miss that reality. I refuse to live in a city because water piped to people is chlorine treated and often fluoride is added. There are many things harmful to people that are eaten.

Check in to natural supplements if your a type 2 that runs slightly high. ALA works for my husband when his blood sugar spikes. That way he isn't using additional "pills" (RX).

Thanks for sharing, I’m looking for natural therapies. I also recently watched a video on YouTube made by a neurosurgeon who put on lots of weight because of the hours he worked. He discovered red light therapy- she’s the weight and no longer pre diabetic- does nothing else!

I wonder if the people who have taken these drugs shed because I notice a lot of people around me lately who seem to have that Ozempic look or have seemingly aged dramatically overnight and they haven't taken Ozempic or Wegovy, none of these drugs. They are injections so I wonder about their potential to shed.

Someone just told me today that ozempic caused him to feel severely depressed . He feels better after stopping it .

Almost forgot to put equivalent snake venoms vs the gila monster venom. When they bite, their powerful jaws chew the venom in through capillary action along the grooves in these teeth. Gila monster venom is about as toxic as that of a western diamondback rattlesnake

My husband's doctor had him on 2 RX's for diabetes type 2. So 2 1/2 years ago he added Ozempic .50 weekly but it was too much and he had to drop to .25 weekly. The .25 weekly still dropped his blood sugar low enough he had to eat a couple of candy bars and felt like he'd run a race after his sugar dropping to 65. Again, I asked my why he was prescribed the Ozempic husband now says the doctor didn't tell him why, etc. His A1C was fine for his DOT exam. Hubby was in a hurry to get the truck back on the road. Fast forward. Three weeks ago hubby says his calves have been cramping bad for about a month and the past 2 weeks it's worse. And his fingers on his right hand are cramping plus his thumb join on his left hand is sore to the point he thought it might be carpal tunnel. I immediately gave him a mild lecture that it had to be the Ozempic. I looked up many legitimate articles to prove others were experiencing the same. I talked him into stopping the Ozempic. I have been studying and using natural supplements for myself and have given info to friends as well...just as info and follow your own plan. I told hubby to start testing 3-4 times a day after stopping Ozempic. So his testing indicated blood sugar from 100-135 most of the time. I said, you don't need Ozempic at all. I bought a bottle of 50 mg Alpha Lipoic Acid and told him if his blood sugar started to go up take one ALA capsule. If we go out for pizza he knows his blood sugar will go up and he tests and then takes an ALA when we get home. It's working out fine. BTW, his cramps in his calves seldom bother him, his fingers and his left thumb aren't bothering him. I think we caught this in the nick of time. Plus, he wasn't on Ozempic for weight loss and he never lost any weight. I have him on some other natural supplements that do not affect blood sugar and he feels great especially now that the wicked Ozempic is GONE. Ozempic, Wagovy, Monjourno & Terozapitide (injections or pills) need to be pulled off the market. Those using for weight loss receive 1/10th the dose my husband was getting. The testimonies I've read of damages to their health using it for weight loss is terrifying. Worse yet, I read that there is nothing to reverse the bad side effects for those using for weight loss are having. #eathealthyandexercise

I had stomach effects when I took 2 berberine tablets at a time . When I just take 500 milligrams one tablet after lunch I am tolerating it well . It takes a few days since it restores a healthy gut microbiome. I feel that Berberine has so many benefits so worth playing around to find a dose and / or brand that one can tolerate .
