London has almost 1M CCTV cameras facing onto public roads, the tube, all public areas, the courts, govt and municipal offices and every part of the city where people are involved in public life. The original intention was to fight crime and, especially the IRA threat of terrorism in the 1970's onwards.
What followed from the 1980's was the insidious creep of general citizen surveillance.
The London tabloid press always had free reign and by design existed to spill the beans on the most salacious stories about famous individuals' falls from grace. They even had a war chest to settle libel claims in and out of court.
Things started changing already in the early 1990s where crimes such as cocaine trafficking was so out of control that almost every single pound sterling note had traces of cocaine and the entire city was therefore under permanent surveillance.
London has always been a city that had crime prevention - nationally and internationally and intelligence - high up on their agenda in terms of the National Crime Agency, MI5 and MI6.
So the system was already perfectly installed for plan covid.
As for free speech, the UK took its recent lead from the USA - in terms of their special relationship - and it's been downhill ever since.
Still Boris and other high up govt officials do regularly resign when their leadership ability is compromised, unlike in the USA.
Again, it's nothing on the level of the USA, but it's definitely a case of not being able to fully articulate certain alternative views for general public consumption.
Dr John Campbell (UK), posted a video this week , with figures taken from an FOI request ( regarding statistics from Lanarkshire, if I remember it was either for still births or miscarriages). Within 12 hours , the figures were deemed to be wrong and 'they' adjusted them. This had already happened a couple of months before, same thing, a FOI request for myocarditis in the Swindon area . Again, the next day, they said the figures were wrong. What on earth is going on ? Are we actually now living in "1984"
Maybe France could be argued to have been enlightened, but in USA & UK those that tell the truth went to prison.
Lastly USA begat as a UK penal colony and today has reverted such, while much of UK outside of "City of London' is to be designated 'penal colony' not unlike the movie "Children of Men".

History lesson - British is a psychological operation - British is a political union and nothing more
United kingdom is a fictional entity
Due to the joining of the crowns between Scotland and England in 1603 and later the joining of the parliaments of Scotland and England 1706 / 1707 otherwise known as the acts of union
In the acts of union it states that any and all ENGLISH laws must be upheld and respected in this kingdom for all time to come and that includes article 5 of the Bill of Rights 1688 which cannot be repealed, it can cannot be redacted and it cannot be usurped at any time
If the British political union parliament wishes to remove the right to speak freely then they have to expressly say so in the house of commons - which they have never done as it would mean the end of anything and everything British due to the acts of union having been made null and void
What you are witnessing first hand is total treason aimed at destroying England and the English people - the English common law constitution (we exported it America) is loaded with checks and balances to keep government and parliament in check due to the make up of parliament (those sitting in it) there are 1/3 lawyers which is unlawful as there is no separation of powers - crown in parliament act which forbids lawyers from sitting in the house of commons - monarchy - parliament - judiciary because of the levels of treason being committed and separation of powers is all but non existent parliament and government thinks that it is sovereign when it never will be - the british political union parliament has been deliberately loaded with lawyers who inherently make really bad legislation - they cannot make law - for legislation to become law it has to be given royal assent and that has not happened since 1849 although some say that the treaty of Rome was given royal assent in 1972 whereby the 4 nations that make up the british isles were handed to the European union in an act of pure treachery
