It's so sad to hear, and so many horror stories, and your mom not being a relative or married to him had no say in his care I'm sure unless there's written documentation, and we've heard stories where that hasn't mattered either, and unless there is some accountability for the actions by these criminals it will be worse in the next occur…

I cared for mom for 10 years at home and was by her side through every move, if you don't have someone/advocate to be there for you they can and will take advantage of things. Most doctors seem to go along with the insurance companies seem in denying claims (like we saw in Erin Brokovich), and if one can must always seek at least one other opinion. Sadly we've been geared to trust the medical profession (and there are lots of good doctors available), and tend to believe they are their to help us. The hospitals are even worse since they became for profit centers. If you can find a private one the care in them is usually better. They are usually not located in big cites either unfortunately. I'm glad to hear you were able to find relief.
I credit God hearing my prayers of a decade for my integrative medicine doctor.and unexpectedly moving to Florida from upstate New York just before lockdown happened. My mom was up north ( snowbird) during his hospital stay. I finally started demanding the hospital release him to us & they gave us information that should have been protected under hippa . I’m on his list now to have information but I wasn’t then. I’m glad you were there for your mom!
That's really good to hear how you took charge and helped him out, and Escape from NY at the right time was critical I'm sure too, and nothing beats having God by your side!
