It makes perfect sense to me why these gene therapy products were approved: if a committee member says no they will be removed from the committee and they or their organization will no longer receive any govt funding for research.

Does this phenomenon occur naturally, or only with human-made substances?

Yes, child Moderna dose is 50 micrograms (half the adult Moderna dose), while the adult Pfizer dose is 30 micrograms.
