Think of it from this perspective- in biblical times only a small number of people made sacrifices to follow Jesus. The masses ridiculed, tormented and tortured them. We are like Jesus followers in biblical times- small subset making sacrifices, following the truth while the masses torment us. Following and standing up for the truth has always meant taking the rough, rugged, less traveled path. The masses don't want truth, they want comfort, care, everyone to like them and want to appear like they are doing good. In the end, God knows which path you chose. It's all a test.
5. God desires us to participate in a specific way in His loving plan for humanity.
6. God never promises that our lives here on earth will be easy ["Pick up your cross daily and follow Me."].
7. God will be with us every step of the way, offering us His grace, should we choose to accept it, for the mission He calls us to.
