What a wonderful story. My own mother passed away at 92, February 7th of this year. She lived with us in our Vegas area home, we spent about 3/4ths of our time in our Costa Rica home and she came down several times, until she was no longer comfortable in traveling. My brother committed to being her caregiver, my daughter and son moved in as they each wanted a fresh start in Vegas and needed some help, and your story brought back memories of my own mother and the time we had with her in our retirement years. She too had macular degeneration and was 95% blind by the end, and wouldn't you know, she passed that little gift on to me at birth some 70 years ago. I notice the effects of it daily and am adjusting. The walker, the walks we made with her as many days as she wanted to do them around the block, her talking books, her listening to the family and joining in at times, the family and holiday dinners are all coming to mind. We did our best to make a comfortable and good home to live in. She is missed.
