This is not a nuanced post. I sympathize with her sentiments but she is historically naive. The war started in 1948 when the people of Palestine were displaced and became refugees. All of Palestine is a refugee camp and a concentration camp, half the 2 million are children. Norman Finkelstein explains the history well. Hamas was created in 2006 as controlled opposition by Bibi and the US. They immediately put a blocade on Palestine. The settlements along the border were largely created by taking away the houses and land of the Palestinians and giving them to the new residents from the US. There is a civil war going on in Israel between those who want to eliminate the Palestinians; those in Israel who recognize that there is and has been a humanitarian crisis, severe food and water shortages for the last 20 years, judicial over reach by Bibi's coalition of genocidal zealots that are risking war because of his corruption, a war largely of their own and US making. Nobody in the Middle East even wants to see Blinken, Sullivan or Nod. and are fed up with diplomatic failures by the US: Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, The Middle East and Israel governments are only talking to the Russians and the Chinese because they are the adults in the room. The world sees the US and Europe as a sick man whose lack of diplomacy in favour of hegemony for the last 70 years is a complete failure. They have been kicking this problem down the road too long.

The US needs to stop getting involved in ancient feuds that we aren’t a part of. We need to close our borders and take care of our people and our problems. There are metaphysical forces in play and it is up to good people to resist, stand up and fight this evil on all fronts, including the false, hateful, often evil and obsessive, propaganda. Beautifully written but the facts remain...Israel is surrounded by its enemies. The sky, water, soil do not = home. Rather our hOMe is where safety and sanity exists. If we look at world (macro level) through the lens of our experience (micro level) we see obvious but painful solutions. When my best friend's brother stalked me and broke into my home numerous times (CTE) and threatened my life even after the judge told him 'Not 50 miles from this town", I was forced to leave my home and the city I grew up, family and friends and tell only my family of my whereabouts.When my abusive husband (a doc abusing drugs) was beyond living with for safety and sanity for myself and my sons, I was forced to leave MY dream home (a home only possible by the $ support of my parents) and FLEE. When my now husband was married to a woman who cheated on him and forced him out of a family HOME that was passed on to HIM and took his children through alienation syndrome, should he have fought her or just leave so that his children wouldn't be traumatized through years of fighting. When a family are victims of atrocities like a child being kidnapped and chopped into pieces with DNA confirming the murder, but they are still forced to sit in a court room day in and day out, rather than exact revenge that understandably burns in their hearts, we see that on a micro level we are forced into civilization. If we each personally acted on all the injustices we face in life by killing those who have wronged us (often evil) and bombing the neighborhood they live in, where would we be now? Israel for all its RIGHT to home must face the fact that the deep and twisted road of the wrongs of the past..theirs (there are some) and their enemies (there are many) will NEVER be untangled. They are a relatively small population surrounded by insanely large population that doesn't share their world view. Should the entire planet now risk being dragged into a world war (as 'Never Again' is really a WAR cry) when the clear answer is to move out of enemy territory and relocate? Logic tells you that when if/when a person or a group insist on holding on to a location to the point of death, not just for their families but putting millions at risk in the world as their fight entangles us all, they are not critical thinkers at best and at worse, religious zealots, sentimental fools, barbaric idiots or a combination of the three. There are places in the world, large islands and beautiful lush lands that the Israel state can relocate to. If there is a question of how long it will take to move 9 million people think of the money available by reallocating war funding and calling on peace-loving nations to contribute to end the madness. You only need to look at the so-called unsupported raid on the US border to see how many people can be relocated WITHOUT legitimate resources. In under a decade the new state of Israel will flourish when energy and money is spent building not fighting. Again, what side caused the problem it is no longer the issue. The only 'who' that matters are the ones calling to design a way to a SANE solution.
