As for the NBA, I had the great privilege of attending 8 games of the Lakers’ 33 game win streak, as well as game 1 of the ‘72 finals. Huge Wilt fan. I continued watching the Lakers on TV in the Magic Johnson era. By that time regular people could no longer afford to attend games. Still watched when Shaq and Kobe were tearing up the league. None of those men ever indicated that they had a problem with my skin color. Now that the NBA has been taken over by people like Mr. James, who have made it clear that they consider my skin color a problem, I choose to no longer support them. Mr. James is gifted below the neck, defective above.
I actually feel better having "stopped watching the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL". I was never into NASCAR or Bud Light, so I cannot give them up. For better or for worse, I spend much of the time reclaimed from not watching those things to reading substance and listening to a wide variety of podcasts. I feel I am much better informed, but I don't get much sense of accomplishment from just accumulating knowledge.
