We had Alligators under control a few decades ago, but they got put on the “endangered” list. They are no longer endangered, (obviously), but they are still “protected”. This is another case of more federal government interference in our lives and freedom.

They could increase the number of permits that gator hunters are allowed to take during gator hunting season for starters.

Just make it “open season” on gators and pythons. No limit. Fried alligator on the menu weekly!

It is open season pythons. Gators were hunted to near extinction years ago. They are native. I think the FWC only issues 2 permits per person. Nuisance gators that have lost their fear of humans most often are euthanized and their meat is harvested. But their are millions now. I see gator meat sold in many places. Python skins make beautiful purses, wallets and other items. Not cheap though.

Alligator hide makes great boots.

Better gators are extinct than toddlers are eaten. Make it “open season”, at least until their numbers are down to a reasonable level. As many as there are, that could take a while. Tell the government to pound sand.

The massive increase in Development in Florida isn’t helping. Then their natural habitats are being destroyed, ponds and wetlands are being filled in & developers are required to create new ponds and wetlands in adjacent areas which are many times in the backyards of new homes. Gators are losing their fear of humans because some people foolishly think it’s cute to feed them. So now we have lots of these big dangerous reptiles. They show up in places where they shouldn’t be. And people who make bad choices get into trouble.

That is quite telling of the man that shouted to the world, don’t inject mRNA vax into your children. How sad.

SO, the question is, how do we train the pythons to slip into the WH under the cover of night, to FEAST on other serpents?

My father's golfing partner was attacked by an alligator. He rushed over and wrestled him free. If he hadn't he would have dragged him into the water. It made the national newspapers. The threat is real, and becoming worse.

Hi Lynn :)

The guy required years of operations. I think it was around 8 feet and came out of the pond 2 feet high and bit onto his legs and wouldn't let go, when he was looking for his ball. Never saw it, it came from under the water.

I starting noticing my ex husband had severe psychological problems when shortly after he kept taking our toddler son close to ponds on the golf course. I think he did it sadistically as he got aroused by my parents and my fear.

Hi Niki :-) OMG that must have been a nightmare for that man. I'm sorry your ex-husband did that to your son. Anything could have happened in an instant. Take Care +

Why can't these Pythons be eradicated from Florida. Why wait to have a contest to see who could win!

Expand full comment

They can lay up to 100 eggs and are in the remote ares of the Everglades, hard to get to. Need more python hunters with swamp buggies & air boats that can reach those areas. 100,000’s of pythons. Well established.

Oh Dear. That's frightening!

Lol, they actually stay in the water and leave their snouts above water as it freezes and stay like that until it thaws.

Thanks for your kind of thoughts Lynn! I hope not! I pray that my skill set isn’t one that would be needed. That would be a bad place for our country to be in. My husband was qualified to fly C-141b that have been relegated to the boneyard. But there are a few still in service in Guard units. They can be made air worthy if needed I am told. I hope it doesn’t come to that.

Chelie; I hope it doesn't come to that either. So, your husband is a Pilot. Is he still active? Praying for YOU and our Country. +

We are both retired and my husband does not fly anymore due FAA flight physical requiring him to revisit an old consult to a Dr for sleep disorder work up. That had resolved and the Dr he saw was dead. No records could be found but when scrutinizing past medical history FAA made a big to do about it. Not worth dealing with the government anymore. Then we see the FAA change the rules for pilots with problematic EKG changes, allowing that to pass a flight physical. The hypocrisy was mind blowing. His civilian occupation was in IT. He had enough of flying in the military. Quit flying privately over a year now.

Thank You for sharing. You are both better off not dealing with the Government anymore.

You Both take care. Thank YOU Both for your Service. God Bless +

"The reticulated python is among the few snakes that prey on humans. On April 9, 2015, the species was added to the Lacey Act list in the United States, prohibiting import and interstate transport due to its 'injurious' history with humans.[44] Attacks on humans are not common, but this species has been responsible for several reported human fatalities, in both the wild and captivity. Considering the known maximum prey size, a full-grown reticulated python can open its jaws wide enough to swallow a human, but the width of the shoulders of some adult Homo sapiens can pose a problem for even a snake with sufficient size. Reports of human fatalities and human consumption (the latest examples of consumption of an adult human being well authenticated) include:..." wikipedia.org/wiki/Reticulated_python#Subspecies
