I read somewhere that a sheriff can exercise authority to override mandates such as lock downs, masks, etc. It's a little known authority and I don't know if it works in every state but it's another level of protection against authoritarian actors.

If they were all getting ready to be exposed as pedophile rapist, murderers, I could understand they all might kill themselves on the same day, but the story says none of the deaths were connected to the other.
