The problem is that research is going on to try to find cures and vaccines for monkeypox. That is a waste of resources which could be better used trying to find a cure for ailments that afflict far more people, e.g., vaccine or shedding injuries.

My concern in this area is that those hoping to "elevate" monkeypox as the 'dreaded' Disease X will conduct a fear porn campaign (equivalent to the one promoting covid) to the anxiety-ridden covidians making them believe they are all equally susceptible to monkeypox as promiscuous homosexuals and other sexually depraved individuals.
