Great selection listed here especially Denzel but another one I love Is Kevin Costner. He had many great roles. Many of them are gone or long forgotten and replaced by what Paul calls freaks.
From the beginning of the film industry, there were a lot of people in Hollywood whose behavior away from the lights and cameras was disguting. Charlie Chaplin, Kirk Douglas, Jerry Lewis, Hope and Crosby, to name a few.
My son works in the industry. He works as a key grip. Sad for the other folks who make a living in this industry.
It’s not just actors an writers.
He went to Savanah to work on a Tyler Perry production. Within a few days there were younger people coming in and working while the more experienced grips etc are not being called in.
My younger brother is a writer. He’s on strike. Lucky for him he has other resources to draw from. Not all do. I have a lot of sympathy for the writers. None at all for the professional narcissists aka Actors.
Not in the racket since I left Hollyweird in 1989 and let go of my SAG card. I would not prostitute myself to get roles so I starved and came to San Diego with $50.00 in my pocket and a friend's couch to sleep on. The business is rotten but the entire crew that make the films are wonderful people and they are all suffering now.
Also all the others you don't see while watching the movie but are necessary: The camera operators, makeup people, stuntmen, set builders, prop movers, janitors, the people who feed everyone, etc.
Well said Dr. Paul. Let the industry collapse. Bulldoze the whole thing and put in regenerative farms to serve LA. I’ve seen superb films but taken as a whole the movies bear responsibility for the sick preoccupation with sex and dead-end daydreams of the luxury lifestyle of the rich and famous. But, let the market decide. The sex-change industry is theater. Mutilating surgery is the ultimate make-up job to create the superficial appearance of something you are not. All about thinking your life is a movie, a fantasy, a world of make-believe with a million fans on social media. A lot of little Norma Desmonds of every age running around in costumes made of flesh.
The attributes of women we are so familiar with and will always treasure trace back to the XX chromosomes. Much imitated but never equaled. Imitate all you want, but don’t bother me with it. Are we not sick and tired of fraud in the current administration? Do we want Bill Gates’s mechanical pollinators or real honey bees? Do we want to live in and share the natural world for all perpetuity or an AI/glass/plastic imitation that can NEVER offer the complexity, depth, texture and soul gratification of reality?
Have you read “Dune?” There was some gratuitous violence in the book but a lot of prescience as well. I’m beginning to understand the jihad against machines that imitate the human mind.
I completely agree!!!!! And it is timely. We need to clean up this Earth of ours and so start with the factory of so much violence & negativity. Cause for celebration.
Let them all go take a flying leap into the abyss. Do you know how powerful we are when we work together? We can create our reality that is good and destroy the wicked one the monsters want. NEVER Comply with Anything they want. Take them OUT of existence.
Let Holly -weird cancel itself.
From giants like Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Gregory Peck, Paul Newman to...Brad Pitt, the Rock, and other interchangeable mediocrities.
Denzel is about the only good thing to come out of Hollywood in the last 30 years.

I thought Brad Pitt woke up after he got divorced from his freak wife, Angelina Jolie maybe not.
In your opinion - I find Denzel to be a flat actor - nothing special

This whole world needs a total revamp.
that would explain the UTTER UNWATCHABILITY of any tyler perry "movie" ...better classed as revolting drivel...
I am so sorry, sounds like his financial stability took a nosedive, so sorry.
Yep!
As I understand, the key grip is analogous to the equipment manager for a football team. Is that accurate?
I can certainly live without anything new coming from Hollywood.
Every one of them is easily replaceable.
I agree...all nut freaks...Hollywood

RandD, Thank you for saying that.
I do not understand why some people interject with a “mean girl” remark.
Trust me, very few Hollyweird types
make an hood impression on my son.

Let them continue on their paths of self destruction. The sooner they’re gone the better. Make them obsolete.

I tuned out of a lot of movies and television way back in the 80s.
Yes, who cares! A waste of time!
People should watch blade runner 2049- they’ve always signaled what they want to do to us. Predictive programming

I feel this way about most performing arts. If no one wants you, move on.
