Great piece Paul but I see a problem with your step #3: many if not most of these people are atheists (or perhaps Episcopalians or reform Jews which are little different from atheists in my view). Essentially their G-d is secular society which here in the USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of fedgov.com. this of course is my longwinded way…

Essentially their G-d is secular society which here in the USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of FedGov.Com. this of course is my longwinded way of saying that too many see the state as “G-d” or at least godlike.
