For some context, the Osprey is very very difficult to fly and since it's early days has suffered a plethora of crashes both from the challenge of flying it and technical issues. It was severely over budget and suffered a lot of early crashes.
The crash last year was due to a transmission issue which was "known" but could be "worked around".
The aircraft has been grounded numerous times due to similar hardware problems.
It's got a long history, and it's not a good one. In this specific case -- only because it's a V22 Osprey -- I would suspect technical problems before pilot incapacitation.

I always suspected the Osprey was the most unsafe aircraft in the military.
Coupled with the military being forced to take the covid death shot...recipe for disaster.
