Anyone with a scintilla of knowledge and/or direct experience with the military understands that you don't rise in the ranks by thinking outside the box or by challenging convention. They are the very definition of "the swamp."
Guys like McMaster, Milley, and 'Mad Dog' Mattis are experts at playing the game. Look at what happened to General Zinni when he tried to warn Rumsfeld and the necocons that the U.S. would not be welcomed by Iraqis as liberators, that the invasion was the act of a colonial power, and that 125,000 troops were not enough to occupy and administer a post-Saddam Iraq. He predicted the disaster that it was and was compelled to resign.
I'm not a Trump fan but I voted for him and I hope that ultimately he is vindicated.
Trump was naive to think that he could run government like he runs his business. There is no loyalty in government. He thought by being a nice guy and appointing people who were suggested to him that it would play out just like it does in the private sector. He kept the Senate "in session" artificially throughout Trumps term, so he could not make any recess appointments. If ONLY 1 SENATOR HAD OBJECTED, McConnell would not have had the authority to do it...Like Lee, Cruz, Paul, Johnson, etc. NOBODY WANTED HIM TO FUNCTION. NOT ONE. Traitors all.
