I agree, at least in part, with the late great George Carlin: "We are circling the drain." It's more complex than that, I wouldn't be comfortable letting that statement stand on its own. He placed himself in the roll of observer as opposed to getting overly worked up about things because he believed that inevitably we were a doomed species, mostly because of our own doing. As he said: "We have squandered away many great gifts." There is a significant amount of the population that does not question so-called authority. Critical thinking, common sense, logic and reason are disapperaring because of the technological behaviorial control mechanisms (cell phones, et al) at our fingertips. We have a generation of young people absolutely obsessed with online gaming and furry cell phone friends. They are zombified to the world around them. While I tend to agree with Carlin's sentiment, I'm not wired to simply be relegated to observer only, however.

The night before last there was a truly bizarre situation here in Kansas where the occupants of two vehicles ended up in a DUEL in a grocery store parking lot and shot each fatally. The cause? The driver of one car thought the other vehicle, a pickup truck, was too loud. One of these people had been a POLICE OFFICER previously.
Clear, cogent, and correct. By setting the problem correctly before trying to problem solve we have a far greater chance to succeed. Versus unhinged mania driving policy and society into primitive impulse. As Aristotle said, we are what we repeatedly do. Higher mind vs lower impulse. We have a choice in what we say yes and no to and we ought to always choose proven truth over official lies and failure.
