Yes, they are...in some cases, it is not really intentional.

It is just the thought process that seems to occur when there are no offspring.

Parents are more focused on the future because they kids and grandkids. And they will do anything to protect their kids.

Oh, yes! I agree.

And in other cases, the selfishness precedes and informs the decision to remain childless. I have actually heard the following statements in an office setting (from various women):

▪︎ I didn't want to ruin my figure. (NOTE: There is no valid reason for this to happen.)

▪︎ It would have interfered with my career path.

▪︎ Our dog is our baby.
