In Texas you had to document the subzero freezer manufacturer/model/serial number and the temperature monitoring devices’ manufacturer/model/serial number and calibration certification info. There were a lot of dollars spent and most hospitals that do orthopedic surgeries already have “bone freezers” which meet the criteria.
Actually, we did not get the Pfizer product since you had to commit to receive a full 975 doses at a time. We were never going to use that much so opted for the Moderna product.
Placing sterile vials in a bone freezer would probably be a minimal risk infection control issue since bacteria would not be able to grow/proliferate under those conditions. Comparatively, bacteria and viruses do grow readily in refrigerator or room temperature environments. Also, the sterile vials would be stored in a subcompartment, which is placed in the bone freezer. A box in a box.
agree, never saw the subzero freezers at the hospital either

Did they put vaccines in the bone freezers, seem like that's an infection control violation...?
We have breast milk freezers but nothing but breast milk goes in them. It's possible they existed and I didn't see them...
Crazy...
