It's a shame Pippa had such a naive epistemology. Unfortunately, those of the serial killer religion and other psychopaths prey on the kind-hearted.

How terribly sad. The poor woman's ignorance and foolish refusal to accept the dark truth of the existence of evil in this world led to her death. What a dreadful end to what should have been a long and fruitful life.

She was absolutely stupid!! You couldn't do anything so careless, and devoid of situational awareness and expect to stay alive, anyplace in the world but especially you are putting yourself in terrible danger if you pull such a stunt in The Middle East.

Yet you find the same kind of foolishness with other women who insist on going wherever they want, whenever they want, however they want , with no awareness of their environment,in various states of being clothed or unclothed and should never experience negative consequences from their careless, unthinking actions.

And they get very angry, if you point out that they are putting their lives at risk in so doing.

Instead, They prefer to deny and forget that common sense is essential to staying alive in this world: nature, human or otherwise, does not forgive stupidity and arrogance

Few, if any, of the authority figures in her life would have warned her. They probably encouraged it...

Catherine Hazur's avatar

Even if they had warned her, would she have listened? Some individuals just have no common sense and have to learn everything the hard way...this woman was no child, she was in her 30s. A practicing ethnocentrist thinking that she was going to change their culture by her foolhardy stunt nearly suicidal in its stupidity. And she wound up getting herself murdered......smh

Moral precepts are relative, all cultures of equal value -- except of course, White, Western Christian Culture. That's racist, sexist, oppressive, utterly despicable and must be eradicated!

At some point people will grasp the "Progressive / Tolerant" ideology we've been spoon-fed for the last 70 years is a total load of crap. But even with stories like this, I'm not holding my breath it'll be any time soon...

It usually takes awhile for the wilfully blind and terminally stupid to inevitably reach the end of the line......

Sometimes the penny drops when they're standing -- naked after being ordered to strip -- in front of the trench they've been ordered to dig, about to be shot in the back of the head.

But not often.

10.31.23 8:40am, Tell it sister! Punky & I wholeheartedly agree! So many young people both male & female live in a literal 'fantasy land' within their minds. However, our conglomerate of undeniable world occurrences are providing a myriad of shocking "wake-up" calls for everyone.. myself included. Thank you so much Catherine for your response. Have a beautiful day today! (smile) Pam&Punky /Lipstick&Paws

Italy and Turkey shocked! Why? I wasn’t shocked.

Me either. Many have been shielded from true Evil and do not realize. When a dog has been violently mistreated or taught since a puppy to be vicious, you cannot change him later. He is scarred for life. People are much the same. They are injured permanently, but a “ few humans” may be saved with a miracle. These jihadist are not really human. They are damaged with Evil in their hearts. Pray for America. The Obama and Biden administration set out to destroy America. We need a miracle from God. Mike Johnson led the Congress in prayer because he knows without God, there is no AMERICA . Just look at the Evil we have allowed on TV, in our universities and at the border. Get on your knees today and turn your heart to our beloved creator, Almighty God. 🙏

I would have been hugely shocked if she made it. To the point where I would have assumed she was traveling with a make camera crew that was armed.

How could anyone be so incredibly, so inexcusably naive?

Winner of the Darwin award.

Well. Sad. And incredible naive. How has the West become so forgetful??? The man arrested was just some man. Could have been any man. Etc.

After reading the comments, I wonder if her point was to show how even when the actions of men devalue and debase women the women are blamed for the choices men and boys made.

Who else has noticed the majority of the comments are blaming the victim for being raped and murdered?

Mystic William's avatar

We aren’t blaming her for being raped and murdered. We are blaming her for her immense stupidity. We are blaming the monsters who raped and killed her for that.

Yes. Fear and anger are easier to express—they are the feelings that erupt and surface first. However, inviting a pause, opens the door to the complex array of feelings that complex circumstances require—this is as important in personally and globally. She did crack the door open and through the cracks, the light gets in.

If I drive my convertible to a rough area, leave the top and windows down, leave a backpack on the seat with my laptop in it, am I to blame for it being stolen? Or am I to blame for being stupid?

Mystic William's avatar

If I did that and whined about it would you waste your sympathy on me? Serious question.
