Ron has done nothing about the Lake Okeechobee releases which feeds the red tide blooms and then we end up with thousands of fish dying and when I say fish, that includes big ones like dolphins, whales and manatees. The shore birds also die if they stay in the area and people have even lost their pets that have come into contact with this water, especially where people have had to deal with a very nasty blue green algae that live along the banks of Lake O's locks. This nastiness even showed up in Stuart, FL and everyone here knows the east coast has more money so that's the other reason why the lake gets released in the Gulf of Mexico! You can go on FB groups like "Florida Illness Registry" and learn about these issues and there are several other private groups talking about the reports of the missing people, listing many by name. To say it leaves a "dark pall" is an understatement. Ron DeSantis didn't only earn the name "DeathSantis" because of Covid. At least Trump tried to do something about the Lake O releases with plans to build a resevoir south of the Lake. Of course, once Biden took office, progress on the resevoir stopped just like the border wall did. Ron has done nothing about this, although while campaigning, we've seen him taking trips to these areas, taking air boat rides while discussing "restoring the Everglades" once again....that tired, old chestnut! If that was allowed to happen, it would destroy their precious crops. So the Everglades will never be restored and they will continue to overbuild and keep all the golf courses green which leeches even more chemicals into our water system. I have also heard (not 100% positive) but rumor has it Ron planned to raise sales tax in Florida to 23%. As tour guides and with a boat rental business, we'd be destroyed as would most small mom and pops if that happened. The inflation is so bad now in Southwest Florida too that our electric bill is $1800 a month in a 1700 square foot house. This is hurricane related because our infrastructure had to be rebuilt so now, we are paying the price for that. I could go on and on for days with the problems happening down here and maybe, if people knew, they'd quit coming in droves. IMHO DeSantis has done some very good things in Florida. The problem is he is now backed by a lot of RINO and Never Trumper money fatcats. They're not so much for DeSantis as they are virulently opposed to Trump. DeSantis comes from the Paul Ryan wing of the GOP, and I don't think he's entirely left that inheritance behind. Re Trump, compare to the treatment of Brazilian politician Lula da Silva. Different politics, but maybe same strategy used against Trump. Lula was put in jail for 580 days on what many think are trumped up charges. I think the Brazilians elected Lula while he was in jail, but I may have that wrong. As a resident of Florida I can tell you that Ron DeSantis is not the hero some try to make him. Sure he served in the military, so did John McCain but he turned into a scumbag when he got into politics. Ron has grabbed headlines by virtue signaling on the woke mind virus. I say virtue signaling because almost nothing he made speeches about has been accomplished. Ron has done nothing about crime in the largest cities. He did nothing to help conservative candidates in Tampa and Jacksonville. The result was a Democrat mayor in Jacksonville for the first time in twenty years. In Tampa we had a chance to flip our city council to conservative with four candidates on the ballot. Ron ignored us. He could not take the time to endorse, make a couple of speeches, or drop some money for mail flyers to help them win. He was too busy running a shadow campaign disguised as a book tour.
