You need two pieces right? You need the infection, or identification of infection, and thats what the overcycled PCR gets you. But you also need a multiplying method of spread to act like an exponentially increasing epidemic. Not sure how pcr does that, unless you ratchet up your cycles over time(?) But there was another multiplicative agent that would get your R_eff > 1. Contact tracing. “Can you please tell us everyone you were in contact with?” Then overcycle test, rinse repeat. Think the math works close to the same until you saturate your contact tracers.

So, if and only if I understand this faulty protocol, I could test my tests and receive a positive for Covid ?
