Sewage sludge has severely damaged conventional farmland and has even caused farmers to lose their farms.'
Sewage sludge is prohibited for use on certified organic farms. But since PFAS forever chemicals do not break down in the environment, certified organic farms that were once conventionally farmed have been shown to be contaminated years later. Using sewage sludge as fertilizer has resulted in "dangerous levels" of toxic PFAS being found in the food we eat, including beef, milk, eggs, vegetable crops around the country. gmofreeusa.org
