What are you talking about? Why should Americans give a crap about Israel or the Middle East? What is so righteous and virtuous about Israel, exactly? People laying out for a country that is just over 75-years old and with a history that is not good to its neighbors or Christians for that matter. But yet we should support such a state? Please - GTFOH.

What? How many wars has Israel started with its neighbors? How many times has it invaded its neighbors without its neighbors first invading or at least attacking it. Israel’s history is far older than just 75 years. The new reconstituted Israel is that old, but the nation is ancient and the land it currently occupies was once theirs and never was Palestinian.

October 7 will happen again and again unless Hamas is completely destroyed. Israel has no choice but to move into Rafah and obliterate Hamas.

Hamas will regroup and remain a threat, but a reduced one.

Friedman is a racist bigot and Zionist. End of agreement here.

If you really knew anything about Israel you would be castigating them for their imperialist, racist abuse of the Palestinians for over 75 yrs. Further, of great significance, is that Zionism is a political philosophy having nothing to do with Judaism. There are way more non-Jewish Zionists in the US than there are Jewish people. Think about that! Now understand that Zionism has always promoted the ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people with its European white supremacist, colonialist mindset going back to the 1890's at the very least. Major writings throughout this history shows this in quote after quote from leaders, writers, philosophers, etc.

Now Israel from 1948 practiced this racist genocidal effort with the removal of at least 750,000 Palestinians from their homes killing many more 1000's. Most of the people in Gaza are refugees from 1948 Nakba, some having been removed several times over the years.

As for peace? It is Israel that destroys all peace efforts. Any efforts such as the OSLO accords were fake with no intent of ever putting them into action. Israel never accepted the partition plan of 1948 where they, with only a minimal % of the population got over 70% of the land. This was outright theft. How would you feel if some minority group suddenly invaded your home and community, killed many people in the 1000's, forced those surviving to literally walk miles away and impose military law on you full-time.

The Palestinians have sought peaceful resolutions with Israel in many ways. Their protests and marches and petitions were always met with violence. Every single 'ceasefire' effort that the Palestinians always followed was met by Israel instigating its failure with killings and invasions by the far right Zionist fundamentalists that Israel has always been supporting, letting them do much of the dirty work to keep Palestinians terrorized with threats of land and business theft/destruction and deaths in the 1000's over the years. Israel's goal has always been ownership of all the lands they call Palestine which also includes parts of Jordan, Lebanon and Syria. Talk about imperialist goals. It is Israel that needs to be taken to task as they were this past Spring at the International Criminal Court which was timid as they should have brought blunt charges and arrest warrants for the entire leadership of Israel and the Military as per the Nuremburg trials after WWII.

It is always critical to ask why the world is tolerating Israel's arrogant, violent behavior which trashes all the international laws. It has used starvation, water deprivation, destruction of homes and all the social institutions to achieve their goals. They never really wanted to destroy Hamas as its existence serves a useful tool to manipulate the rest of the world. Paul's essay shows how he has been so manipulated himself. The recent Hamas agreement to a peace agreement from Egypt and Qatar was not even read by Israel, just rejected. What Paul does not realize is how arrogant the solutions he mentions are and how totally unacceptable they are to the Palestinians who seek freedom and independence. Like more westerners in power roles he shows no understanding of the people's right to self-determination and none of the western conversation even mentions it in any way. The Palestinian people are to remain subjugated under Israeli/foreign control. How incredibly insulting and bigoted thinking.

So not, Paul's essay is as totally off the wall as are Friedman's pro-Zionist racist posts. People need to get their heads out of the money people's narrative. All the MSM is controlled by the oligarchy and rarely has any truth in it. There are great news services to read, however, for good information. Mondoweiss, If Americans Knew, +972, Electronic Intifada are a few sources that are free an online. Chris Hedges is a great one to listen to or read, also online. The powers-that-be keep trying to censor these voices. Hedges recently lost about 50% of his income due to censorship online. Read these sources and support them if you really want to be informed.

So sorry but a number of your facts are misguided. It is time for people to put aside the hate, and try to save the future. Revenge only gets one dead, and to an evil place to spend all of eternity. Forgiveness from all is the only way to move forward.

Expand full comment

There is not a single error in my facts which are different than my, or your opinions.

Forgiveness is great when you have freedom but when under a brutal Occupation freedom and survival are the priorities. Many Palestinians are quite spiritual and forgiving people but they need to keep alive to do that.

As for revenge, apply that to Israel which is nothing but vengeful

People are uneducated in History. God is the creator of the universe whether you want to believe it or not. It is true. Read the Bible and you will understand everything going on. Each human is going to die. It would benefit you to read God’s words that God inspired/directed

a few humans to put on paper. What happens to you, when you die is in the Bible. Children in America learned to read by reading the Bible. That ended sometime in the late 1800’s. That began America’s downfall. Humans are uneducated to Truth. Israel is VERY IMPORTANT and people with brains know it. America is a Judo-Christian country, but many do not understand that . A few people in the world are presently trying to change that. That is why people have had freedom of religion and freedom to speak in America. There is great effort now by a totaltarian government to take away freedom and the presence of God. Totalitarianism is evil . Only almighty God can save America, but many have turned away from God and the goodness He brings.

Please READ: 2Chronicles 7:14. Do what it says to do. Our only hope.

Buy a Bible if you do not have one. You will not regret it because Satan is here. We pushed God out and left an empty place, so Satan moved in. Satan is evil and those who do not love God can easily become quite evil in their hearts, souls and mind. I’d advise people to pray to God. He listens. But read 2Chronicles. 7:14 first.

Got just a couple of lines into it; garbage. There can be no two state solution. Hamas and the Palestinians do not want it. Clinton got Israel to agree to a two state solution and Arafat declined, despite demanding it. They want perpetual war. Once they exterminate Jews wherever they may be found, they will go after Christians, Buddhist’s, Hindi and all others and eventually other muslims that are not of their sect for lack of the proper term. If Israel wants no more war, they must eliminate Hamas. Will that guarantee no more war, no. But hamas’s survival guarantees continued war with brief respites as they rearm and rebuild.

To have a war you need at least 2 armies. Hamas doesn't have an army. They're just a ragtag buch of islamist civilian whackjobs with primitive weapons. The "war" is between an army and a bunch of civilians. Most of the 30,000 dead appear to be women and children. That's US style "winning hearts and minds" and will breed hatred that will last for generations. Once Hamas is eliminated new terrorist groups will spring up to take their place. Before Hamas there was Black September and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. After al-Qaeda came ISIS. After ISIS came ISIS-K. After Hamas, what next? And who nurtured Hamas as a counterweight

to Fatah? How much islamofascist terrorism, which now affects other Western countries apart from Israel, was there before 1948?

Expand full comment

No, you do not. War is not like a dance, where you need a willing partner. All that is needed is one bully to invade another land and force them to choose between fighting and liquidation.

War is messy. It is always the civilian populations that bear the brunt of all the damage. If you are concerned over the deaths of women and children in Gaza, get on Hamas’s ass for hiding in schools, hospitals and residential areas and storing weapons in the same.

Dr. Paul Alexander writes:

"It is not surprising to me that many people there just want revenge"

.

So what?

.

If this is true - then ISRAEL has turned it's back on JESUS of NAZARETH - and is NOT A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY ANYMORE.

.

We should be treating such raving extremist ANTI-Christians, like we treat all other terror-preaching ANTI-Christians - as that crooked FAKE-religion of "an eye for an eye" - is the most insane & satanic FAKE-religion on this planet, as it is nothing but a GUARANTEE for eternal WAR & eternal GENOCIDE.

.

Anyone who promotes "eternal war", against a family, a group, a town, a country or the entire world - as the only answer to each and every imagined or real crime - is just insane & needs help like each and every lunatic, or criminal psychopath.

I sincerely tried to read the Friedman piece quoted. I have never been able to tolerate him. So I essentially dismissed him out of hand. So sorry.

A couple points in general I cannot get past:

1. Since when do the losing parties (Ukraine & Hamas) of any war have the authority to dictate anything?

2. Why doesn't the Biden Administration use the same tactics against Zelensky (withhold ammunition unless "Biden" dictates strategy)? Instead, Biden just hands over billions of dollars and war machinery to be sacrificed by inept Ukrainian "military." And in contrast we withhold ammunition that has already been promised to Israel and legally authorized (unfortunately) by Congress, breaching separation of powers.

3. The argument about showing the world you stand fast with your allies (which I agree with) is only used to force U.S. support of Ukraine. That is: U.S. citizens are scolded that if we 'abandon' Ukraine [impose a compromse on Zelensky to end 'his' (our) losing war with Russia] our allies will never be able to trust or depend upon us, yet Biden is transparently supporting Hamas in negotiations (as well as supporting Israel in a lukewarm way) in order to pander to illegal Arab "refugees" (Biden voters).

4. News in the U.S. yesterday revealed that Hamas wants to substitute the corpses of Israeli hostages they killed for some living hostages required to be released as part of a mediated agreement to escape further punishment by Israel. That enraged me. As much as I'm certain that the families would be overjoyed to bury their dead, there is no guarantee they could even be identified, after the way Hamas has treated them. IIRC, Hamas refuses to release the names of all hostages, dead and alive.

5. WHY would Friedman or anyone make an agreement on the basis of believing that "Palestinian" leadership could ever be "reformed" or trusted?

6. I believe the Biden Administration's true motivation in withholding munitions from Israel (in addition to pandering for illegal Muslim refugee votes) is to replace Netanyahu with someone they can control.

I know the situation has greater complexities, but cannot help but emphasize these frustrations.

Dr. Alexander, my sense is that you are seeking to have balanced perspectives. In other words, in order to balance how right you were on covid, you now need to be just as wrong on Israel! Many who are much wiser than you or I have revealed that the secret to Israel's successful future lies in acknowledging its true past and revealing its worst enemies! I'm referring to the comments by university history prof.'s, ex-IDF and many others. In summary, increasing numbers of Israelis are waking up to the indisputable fact that they can no longer afford to assume that the US is its best friend. In reality, the US has always been Israel's worst enemy! The US will always keep Israel on a war path with all the countries that neighbor it - for the exact same motivation - although by different industries - as those who brought us the covid "plandemic" that you were able to so brilliantly see through. This very good experience should have prepared you to see through the BS in the current narrative that they're trying to sell us regarding Israel! Another very good example is Ukraine. With all due respect, your and many others' similar opinions are based on a complete ignorance of these countries' histories and how the US intends to keep the entire world on a suicide mission to benefit its war industry! I will dig out my references to include on future similar posts so that you can arrange a debate with these knowledgeable people if you continue to develop an immunity to wisdom!
