In addition to deaths from COVID-19, residents at two long-term care homes in the Toronto area died of dehydration and neglect during outbreaks last spring; 26 residents died due to dehydration
This is horrifying Paul. I am grateful everyday that my 97 year old mother has been living with us since 2018...and thriving. She has been an important addition to what Peter calls our "war room" where we all gather around the dining room table to discuss the issues we've researched and poured into our book and our columns on Substack. Another awful detail is that the long term deaths in Toronto area were from just this last spring (!) There is even less "justification" for that than when the lockdowns were in full force spring of 2020. God rest the souls of those Innocents.
Ontario LTC Residents Were Denied Essential Supplements by the “Emergency Holding of Medications” Orders. Canadian long-term care homes were turned into extermination centers
Do whatever you need to, to keep your beloved parent/grandparent out of a nursing home. If you love them, you will see to it that they are not institutionalized in these places where they are victims of blatant neglect and abuse. NO ONE will love them and care for them like family. Once there, they are subject to whatever the powers-that-be ordain. Do better. Aim higher. Love your parent as they loved you. The Covid debacle exacerbated this tragic problem and brought it to light, but it existed far prior to that and exists now, too. My mom is 93 and lives with my sister, and we 6 other kids all love her and are present to her (and need her!) and I have no doubt that she would not have survived the pandemic had she been in a home. What a terrible plight to inflict upon a person you love. Don't do it.
THIS WAS PREDICTABLE! Nursing home residents who do not have regular visitors who come at unexpected and unpredictable times are frequently ignored! Those who have visitors who can pop i at any time are the ones who receive care because the nursing staff will make sure that everything looks good.

😭 this truly heartbreaking. How can these ppl live with themselves?
People need to be prosecuted.

These policies were antihuman madness, that was obvious from the beginning. Thank you for continuing to report on this.
What ever happened to respect your elders?
I can’t even imagine how any sane person could harm older people that can’t even take care of themselves. Evil just pure evil.
Makes me sick at my stomach just thinking about how these people were murdered by their own “so called” caretakers.
Criminal!! This is outright neglect! You have to wonder how much was done intentionally to inflate covid numbers.
It's horrifying this happened and so many politicians were bought out, said nothing, protected no one.
Sickening! Water creates more work?.
On occasion when elders requested water I was told not to give water because the elder would need to urinate creating more work
Murder is Murder.
