I spent a decade visiting Canada in the summers several years ago and have (had) several friends up there. A while back, one of my friends was asking me about Biden, and commenting on what a mess the southern border has become. I made the mistake of believing he had made a turn towards more conservative minded thinking and commented about some of Trudeau's atrocities. His reply was, "Actually, Trudeau is doing a pretty good job." I brought up the treatment of those involved with the Trucker Rally and my friend informed me that "Most Canadians wanted that to end and supported Trudeau." At that point I gave up going any further. Sadly, my friend has created distance between us.
The last time I was in Canada was before Trump was elected in 2016, and somebody in my group figured out I supported Trump. They spent the rest of my time there giving me shit about being a Trump supporter. I wish I could say it was in good fun, but it was mean spirited and made me feel very uncomfortable. West Coast Canadians are extremely liberal, and they don't pull any punches when it comes to harassing people that don't have the same opinions.
After that trip, we all met in Sedona, Arizona for some mountain bike riding, and they spent a good portion of that trip "teasing" me about being conservative minded. Even though I tried being understanding, it all became more than I was willing to deal with. I was never the one to bring up politics, and before Trump ran for office we all got along very well. Don't buy into the "polite Canadian" bullshit. They are as vicious and mean spirited as anyone.
He was arrested for "bumping into" the plains clothes police officer that stepped in his way (to try and stop him from following freeland). Ridiculous clown show.
