It’s concerning the thought process of those that believe Russia was AT ALL to blame for their take down of our drone in THEIR territory. Russia claims that the US was flying the drone with its transponder turned off, which is a violation of international law. Considering that there has not been one peep in the media refuting Russia's claim that the drone had its transponder off, I think it is quite likely that is true. If the drone did have its transponder turned off, then Russia was justified in taking it down. A video was released by the US that shows that the Russian jet did swoop down and nearly hit it the drone, but it doesn't appear that it hit it or fired anything at it. The US is saying that the jet dumped fuel on it, but looked more like a contrail than fuel to me. Acutally, looked like the stuff jets spray at air shows that looks like a contrail but they can turn it on and off. Nevertheless, even if Russia did drop fuel on it, and that is what caused it to go down, I think that they would have been justified in doing so considering that the drone was most likely flying in that airspace without its transponder turned on.
