Why is VE negative post 91 days? Is this saying you are more likely to catch the virus if you have been vaccinated?

From my understanding that is exactly what negative efficacy means but it is specific to the degree that the variant has changed (relative in this case to the vaccine-induced response). I have read that it has to do with the interactions between the innate and adaptive immune systems. The complications arise from a programmed adaptive immune response ( e.g. vaccinal antibodies) that is being deployed but not longer working well (against a significantly different variant), This suppresses the function of the innate (non-specific) immune system (which is a critical and first line of defense in dealing with respiratory viruses) thus leading to a greater likelihood of infection/severity of symptoms.
