Specifically, the NCOs that sign contracts, should be specially recognized. They truly place their lives at the feet of the officers appointed above them.
Military service is laudable in any respect, but only Non-Commissioned Officers (NCOs) sign contracts. Commissioned Officers are afforded a lot more latitude and leeway with their service. They have more responsibilities and subsequent privileges, but also are bound differently to service through an oath and appointment; they are the aristocracy in the organization. They carry a greater burden of responsibility and accountability, accountability that is all too often never adequately allocated.
