True. Most people are NOT desensitized to violence and could not kill even in self defence. That is what criminals have on most people, they do not hesitate while the non desensitized consider if they should kill even in self defence.

The only reason I was desensitized was because I worked on a farm as a boy and when my uncle would shoot an animal in the head, it was my duty to hold the knife to give to him to cut the neck arteries. When I grew older I myself did that right after he had shot them.
Killing an innocent animal for food, domestic or otherwise is not easy but one learns to do it by rote. Killing someone in self defense would be easy compared to killing an innocent animal. Unless one is desensitized to violence they will lose against any criminal.
