I worked in nursing homes AND in a maximum security men's prison and I can assure everyone that the prisoners receive better care in many ways. Most doctors do not go into nursing homes and the problems that plague them are thus under cover within the medical profession. Most doctors do not know what goes on in NHs. Most people don't either - that is until their loved one enters a NH. The problems abound and are too numerous to discuss but one of the most frustrating things for me was that the NH doctor essentially has no authority. The nursing homes are run by nurses and social workers and like everything else they are money making institutions.
