Thalidomide is still used around the world. Currently listed on WHO’s 100 “Essential Medicine” list. WHO can’t even get that right. There are some useful and non-toxic drugs on the WHO list, but there are some dangerous ones as well, very dangerous. AZT is there, under the trade name Zidovudine (antiviral – nucleoside 6.4.2.1). Fentanyl (opioid analgesics 2.2), Midazolam, a coma-inducing drug (sedative 1.3). The toxic chemotherapy drugs are on WHO’s 100 list, such as cisplatin (cytotoxic medicines 8.2.1).
Thalidomide is supposedly used for multiple myeloma (8.2.3 immunomodulators).
