The US minimum legal drinking age of 21, although better than the ridiculously low minimum legal drinking age in most non-islamic countries, is not optimal because the prefrontal cortex does not finish developing until people are in their mid to late 20s and a more sensible minimum legal drinking age would be 30. This should also be the minimum legal gender transitioning age. Better still would be to adopt Russia's approach and prohibit gender transitioning in all cases other than those in which the person has genetic or congenital abnormalities that would make gender transitioning acceptable.

You must be 18 to get a driver's license, vote in an election, join the military, buy a firearm, get married, donate blood, work full time, buy and use tobacco, buy alcohol, open a bank account, have a credit card, change your name, get tattoos, file a lawsuit, create your will, purchase a house or vehicle, move out of your parents home, adopt someone, consent to sex.
Yet UNDER 18 you're allowed to make a life changing turn around to be a different gender taking drugs every day to remain that way. You're problem is between your ears NOT what's between your legs. You need a psychiatrist, NOT a surgeon.
