would DeSantis name him senator in Florida? Rubio seat?

That would be an interesting move, trading a House seat for a Senate seat. Trump does play 5-D chess.

Well, I was wrong. Trump has nominated Pam Bondi, his lead legal counsel on the America First Policy Institute. She had been AG of Florida for 8 years, and is immensely qualified.

It looks like Trump WAS making a chess move with Gaetz. It smoked out the RINO Senators who are not MAGA, and it made a lot of the DC denizens start panicking.

Now we will soon fond out who his pick for FBI will be. I am speculating on Kash Patel.

And the speculation about Gaetz taking Rubio's Senate seat - that's out also, DeSantis says he will not be nominating Gaetz to fill that seat. But Gaetz only resigned from the 118th Congress. He was re-elected for the 119th, so he may be sworn in again in the House, from what I understand.

Patel good for FBI...I like the Bondi move, she is tough, smart

Give it up, Dr. Paul. Gaetz is a totally unstable guy. We didn't want him as AG, and we don't want him in the Senate either. He needs to get out of politics and grow up.

Gaetz is the best candidate for AG. But if he declines it, then it is for some other reason, and other position. Perhaps Kash Patel is the one for AG now.

I disagree. He already caved by not seeing the nomination through. Also, he called to have McCarthy removed, but didn’t have any plan. He had no other lined up to be nominated to replace McCarthy. Gaetz is impulsive and very immature. He like the theater. He talks a lot, and puts on a lot of theater in the hearings he’s in, but never actually does anything.

Let’s make one thing CLEAR and UNDERSTANDABLE to EVERYONE.

-The Senate is not interested in supporting MAGA, America First agenda, nor American citizens. The Senate UniParty has identified itself as the protector of the Deep State and sworn its allegiance to the Never-Trump faction. The war has begun, and every current Republican Senator will be primaried in 2026, 2028, 2030, 2032 until compliance with the people’s agenda is achieved, the DeepState is dismantled, and single-term limits become law.

Except who is going to primary the rats? The Republicant party? I don't think so! And even if they were to go along with faux primary challengers the Republicant party won't provide money to the side challenging the rats. And for the icing on the cake, it doesn't matter if there are term limits. The same process by which the rats switch themselves in and out will continue albeit at a quicker pace.

This part will sound crazy but I can't see any other way out.

The only way this changes is if WWIII goes kinetic really kinetic and "we" lose and put current government run by a criminal enterprise is removed lock, stock and barrel to be replaced by real us patriots, much like was done in Japan with McArthur being placed in control of that country but leaving the emperor on place.

Expand full comment

Nope. I don't believe any of this for a minute. Let's look at what has happened in the past week or so. First Gaetz resigned from Congress way too soon. Trump was working with senators individually to get all his nominees passed. Gaetz pulls out now, after the latest investigation shows that the allegations that he was involved with an underaged women have been proven false (see this from Cliff Kinkaid https://newswithviews.com/why-the-deep-state-is-afraid-of-matt-gaetz/). I say that this was all planned by Trump. Not sure why yet, but my money says this will turn out to be another brilliant move. Wait and see.

Finally someone who sees this in a positive light!! Marjorie Taylor Greene said she wanted all the Ethics Reports released including the one she filed against someone (not sure who). What a great way to force all of those out into the light!!! Trump might have make some mistakes (although I still don't think so) in his first admin, but this one is pure, calculated, and highly engineered for success. I love Matt Gaetz but I will also say I will never put anyone on a pedestal again knowing Trump's proclivity for exposing people by putting them in the spotlight. I hope he puts him in as a Senator and puts Kash in the AG spot. That would be beyond amazing!!

Expand full comment

Thanks. I do think he made many "errors in judgement" in his first term, largely (solely?) because there was no one he could trust. Think Pence, Jeff Sessions to name just two. However, now he is much more "seasoned" about the scum who populate the DC swamp. He still has problems with leakers (my money is on Jared Kirschner but I really have no idea). Now, your idea of Kash Patel as AG is awesome, that or FBI director. Honestly, I think I'd rather see him as FBI director. There are more great people to choose from for AG. Personally, I kinda like Larry Klayman for that job!

You give Trump too much credit. All he's good at is causing chaos.

If Gaetz is going to roll over that easy under pressure, he is too weak to be AG, and quite frankly too weak for the MAGA movement.

I think there must have been something he didn't want to come out in that Congressional ethics investigation of him. Quitting his seat stopped the release of the Congressional ethics report. It doesn't necessarily mean that he did anything wrong. It might just be trumped up accusations so sensational that would take too much time and energy to refute.

We need him in Congress or in the new administration. This is a great loss.

Expand full comment

I'm a huge supporter of Gaetz. He's a true and courageous patriot and Trump supporter.

That said, here's a possible interpretation:

• Gaetz knew he was being backed into a corner by the House "Ethics" Committee. (Recall the DC smear tactics against Justice Kavanaugh.) Even though he had been cleared of the sex crime in question by the Merrick Garland DOJ.

• The AG nomination gave him an exit plan to resign from Congress, avoiding an (almost certain?) expulsion or worse on false accusations.

• Is it possible the AG nomination gave him cover to resign? That the transition team knew they'd never get his nomination through the Senate? And they may be saving Gaetz for another role not subject to Senate approval?

Expand full comment

Kathleen - Exactly, all those are valid points. Gaetz was a victim of a wrap up smear, and was not guilty. The Dems don't care about that, because they are lawless. This also exposed the RINOs who took sides with the false narrative against Gaetz. He may be taking Rubio's Senate seat, shall see,

Expand full comment

All speculation. Just wait and see what actually happens.

Expand full comment

I think Occam's Razor applies here, that the simplest explanation is probably the right one. There was something, true or not, he didn't want to come out. I don't see it as a complicated savvy maneuver of any kind. Trump sometimes does shoot from the hip, so maybe he jumped to nominate Gaetz without looking into the potential ethics violation or something that gave that appearance--which might be just as difficult to fight.

Gaetz is very smart and I suspect he always thinks several moves ahead.

But I really don't want to lose him.

Expand full comment

Are you kidding me? Gaetz NEVER thinks ahead. He's totally impulsive, which is what makes him so dangerous, and a bad candidate for AG.

Expand full comment

Gaetz is very impulsive. He does radical things without thinking them through. We don't want that in our government. He needs to stay in a private life and grow up some.

Expand full comment

It is a possible chess move by Trump. If Gaetz does not retain his House seat, he may take Rubio's Senate seat. Whatever happens, I do believe it is all part of the plan. Perhaps Gaetz is needed elsewhere, or back in the House after exposing all the RINO traitors.

hmmmm. I don't think anything he does is a mistake.
