This is awful, but why is it the business of taxpayer-funded schools to make sure kids are fed? Oh, that’s right, the government had to make sure that the excess amounts of Grade Z, hormone-infested, lousy quality meat and dairy products deliberately produced and extracted from abused cattle imprisoned in factory farms and feedlots, had a captive audience of consumers. That insured that corporate profits could be maximized for the benefit of shareholders and animal/product futures contract traders.
But it was all done to benefit the kiddies, of course.
Yes, it started, as all good progressive ideas do, to “help” low-income rural families make it easier to send kids off to school in the mornings if parents didn’t have to cook breakfast for them. The government offered “something for nothing” and many parents thought “hey! What a great deal!” Then, as ALWAYS happens, mission creep set in because her, the idea was so great, and so helpful to the farmers (those who joined the corporaticracy because it was either get big or get out of business), that why not find MORE “underserved” to foist it on to? Wall Street loved it! Now we have entire communities that can’t function unless you and I feed their darling brats two meals per day, six days per week. One wonders how mom and/or dad manage the few meals the kids eat at home any more?
Yes, I KNOW food is expensive! The same system that dreamed up the pump-and-dump school meals program is also responsible for skyrocketing food prices and plunging quality. But I’m no stranger to poverty. My parents were desperately poor when I was young but still fed me three squares every day. You manage to achieve whatever your true priorities are.
In the end, there’s no such thing as something for nothing. “Free” food costs you your freedom and your soul. Thanks to the “free”meals program that has metastasized to enforce the dependency mindset on the majority of our nation’s kids, we now have a situation like that of bears who have become accustomed to feeding at the garbage dumps and grown too lazy and forgetful to forage for themselves. Then when the rangers decide the animals have grown excessively dependent and aggressive and they suddenly begin padlocking the dumpsters, the bears naturally become ravenous, confused, enraged and more broadly dangerous. When the bears have no time or incentive to adjust, they fight to maintain the slovenly, dependent, easy lifestyle they’ve grown used to. So we need to approach parents who have grown used to the low-quality but easy lifestyle that the “free meal” literal and figurative garbage dumps that the public schools have become, like dumpster diving bears.,We need to gradually but insistently start re-acquainting parent bears back to the wild and natural way of “taking care of themselves and their cubs on their own”.
Not sure how to go about doing this. Public schools were, after all, conceived of as production centers for human widgets to begin with, and have turned into factories for producing useful idiot dependents for the Federal government. Any thoughtful suggestions are welcome!
