A blend of around two kids and a good job is about right for the majority. For around 19% of females in the developed world, skipping the kids is what they’ve known they’ve wanted since childhood. Not everybody is instinctively drawn towards reproduction. And certainly not everybody SHOULD reproduce.
Have you ever thought to consider the feelings and desires of all the men, also, who would prefer to skip fatherhood? Lots of guys out there who are like the ladies, in that they don’t really consider parenting a joy or a necessity. If every individual of both genders were free to decide for themselves, the global population would decline and rebalance sustainably in the most humane way possible.
Our current demographic overhang is unique in the history of life on earth and there’s no way to get out of its consequences without relatively temporary pain and suffering. Deal with it. Let’s move on to a world where we can live longer, more healthy and meaningful lives in smaller numbers. To the people living in grossly overcrowded and impoverished parts of the world, that would be heaven. Maybe consider what your viewpoint sounds like to them? Your pronouncements of what’s “right for humanity” might come across a bit differently than you think to the squalid, impoverished masses in other places who could only dream of living as you do.
