so why is this important? to determine there is a problem, FBI would have had to go through the boxes. they may have rearranged the papers according to their sorting rules (legal vs illegal). how else is one going to gather *relevant* evidence? so long as all the papers are there, why is this a problem?

I had an employee stealing. She would pick up a cash tray from a bartender walk to the office, and count it, stealing money each time. We had an RCMP undercover officer replace the proper bar tray with a phony. The phony had been counted in front of me and two police officers. That tray was given to my employee. Ahe walked from the bar to the office. She was under view of people the entire time EXCEPT for one five foot stretch as she walked through a narrow employee only hall. Too narrow for more than one person. Then into the office where she was alone. She stole $100. The Prosecutor reviewed the investigation and decided she couldn’t prosecute because for 2 seconds the worker walked out of sight of anyone. That was enough to kill the charge. Unless the evidence was treated like that, and it apparently wasn’t, then all charges must be dropped. And if the prosecutor mishandled evidence and charged anyway, he must be disbarred.

This is the Mark Fuhrman problem from OJ's case all over again. I wonder what kind of oversight has been mandated since then in cases where there is a danger of the cops' credibility can be questioned.
