it's troubling but we buy most of our food from farmers who we know, local regenerative farmers. we've visited their farms and are comfortable with the way they raise their animals. our backyard is half saline swimming pool and half vegetable garden. last night i made broccoli rabe which i had just picked. today we'll have a large brandywine tomato. we have 28 tomato plants in total interspersed with basil and marigolds. i've got collards, chard, cucumbers, eggplant, fennel, peppers and strawberries. the green beans are almost too much to deal with. i blanched and froze 2 bags of them and have given some away to neighbors (home grown vegetables are a great way to promote community). there are also some cantaloupes ripening on the vine.
we stay away from conventional doctors and don't get vaccines (i lost my job of 40 years rather than get a covid shot and my BF used retirement as his excuse). we filter our drinking water with a berkey. i'm out in the sun everyday working in the garden. once i have all the plots dug out, it will be much bigger and i'll be able to grow more.
