Wait a minute I was told by my credit union Insurance company (Trustone) after they'd approved a policy for me and even having talked to me on the phone when signing up, that they would have to raise my rate by $154 a year after they found out I was a male. When questioning underwriting about it as to why my rate changed knowing I was a male when signing me up by phone, and asked well with being questioned at least half of my life with my name, what if I decided I feel like being a woman now? She replied, well if you can get it on your drivers license we have to honor it?
So back in January when renewing my license the clerk asked me what my gender was, while looking right at me beard and all, to which I had to reply well with my name maybe I feel like a woman today. biological females who are theoretically capable of reproduction have periods. biological males do not have periods.
some hermaphrodites possessing the required organs may have periods.

If someone is XX they are a biological female but as you acknowledge not all are capable of reproducing and therefore don't have periods.
Hitler is a classic example. Hitler was XX and therefore was a biological woman but because she had De La Chapelle Syndrome and exhibited all the classic signs of it she was Infertile and did not have periods.

my point was just that pre-pubescent females and post-menopausal females don’t menstruate. females with fertility issues (and/or missing organs) might not menstruate. i think in some malnutrition/malabsorption situations periods will cease until the issue is resolved... in general menstruation is linked to fertility/womb/birthing of babies.
