A dog or cat in pain can attack anyone, that's why muzzles are used at veterinary offices. Another issue in giving a cue or verbal command some will tell the animal ok. The poor animal doesn't know if it can or cannot do the action. The owners use shock collars negative behavior reinforcement that should not be used. There was a case where a human kept hitting a dog while being walked because it didn't do what the human wanted that could be an act of aggression. Yet some animals have been abused yet the trust has to be earned to overcome. Many owners get a dog and never give basic training and even in some times never see medical attention. It should be mandatory for spay and neuter to prevent pet overpopulation that ended up being killed to the basic training so the human and animal bond is enhanced. Any owner or handler where the animal kills another should be put in prison for a life time with hard labor. The humans should have known prior to getting the animal the requirements for the species energy and temperament. It is a life time commitment if you can't do life of the animal have no place having that pet!

I tend to agree. If a child is seriously hurt or killed, the owner needs to pay a heavy price.

100 percent agree.

There are NO BAD dogs, but only bad dog owners.

No different than raising kids. Great kids are usually from great parents (some exceptions apply).

In rhe end ' We are ALL PRODUCTS of nature and nourture.

The dog appears to be a pit bull, or bully type dog with maybe some cane corso. Pit bulls are banned in Ontario and banned for a good reason. Most dog attacks and deaths are from pit bulls. They have vice like jaws that clamp down and are hard to open once clamped down on someone or something. Pursue the papers lately to see the deaths and damage from these dogs. Choose to believe it or not but they were originally bred to fight other dogs. Some dogs are guardians, such as mastiffs ( which we have owned) and Shepards, Rottweilers etc. some dogs are bird dogs. I believe all new dog owners should be aware of the breed they want to adopt. Research your preferred breed first. I love all dogs. You have to protect the dog from itself. That owner I hope is charged with aggravated assault and never has a dog again. The dog I hope is put down. Once a dog attacks, especially like that, it will do it again. Just ask a few dog trainers and dog psychologists.

Years ago a person in my community kept an ostrich as a pet. The owner’s father had dementia and wandered outside and got into the pen with the ostrich. The ostrich killed the old guy. I doubt that anyone would disagree that the ostrich was dangerous and needed to be made into ostrich jerky, yet when it comes to dangerous dogs, people have no ability to understand that they aren’t to be trusted and need to planted in the garden ASAP.

Many interesting comments on this thread. As a former employee of the postal service; I've witnessed many circumstances. I've heard owners smile and say, "Oh, my dog doesn't bite; just sounds ferocious." This was often said as the animal was snarling at me.

Thankful for the dog spray provided as I had to use it; one time narrowly escaped a German Shepherd.

The owners are very responsible for their pets.

A meter-reader from another company was attacked and had to undergo many surgeries and therapy.

This is a serious topic and I'm tired of excuses for either the owner or animal.

Sorry that’s a disgusting attitude

It’s not that simple and why should a dog suffer because it’s owner doesn’t control it and no human can’t guarantee a dog won’t bite because it’s their defence mechanism and under pressure animals react

The father also should have exercised better judgement and failing to do so contributed to the unfortunate event.

I agree that pet owners need to be held accountable for their pet’s actions. However, I must respectfully disagree on some

of the comments regarding pitbulls. We inherited our first pittie, and she became my best friend and constant companion until the day she died. We now have another pittie (who is almost 11 yrs old) and she is my husband’s constant companion. Unless you’ve owned a pit Bull, you really have no idea what great dogs they really are. We used to also have a mini dachshund (who recently passed at 16 yrs old)...she was a mean little shit. We used to tell people when they came to the house not to worry about the pit Bull (as all

She would do is bark and lick ya to death lol), but not to reach or touch the dachshund as she would nip. She actually bit our daughter when she was about 7...but the pitties never bit anyone. Guess I’m just saying please don’t judge a book by its cover or believe that all pit bulls are mean and vicious...couldn’t be further from the truth! Thank you!

The penalty should fit the crime. What about all the children in Gaza who have committed no crimes, yet are being starved to death, blown apart, and maimed. What penalty should the perpetrators pay ? Whose eyes are being blinded ? Hamas was released upon Israel, so that Israel could claim the right of self defense. Is that's what's going on here ? Have you ever been in jail for any length of time ? Clearing the Palestinians from Palestine is surely what's going on here. Who are the barbarians ? Who makes up scenarios and passes judgment ? Will God be just when he destroys the inhabitants of the earth ? Perhaps that day is close at hand...
