I forgot to mention that in the case of Floyd, the first autopsy had his cause of death as opioid overdose and he had a half dozen drugs in his system. A career criminal.

The guy was already restrained, but they just had to take it further and treat him like a doormat. So sickeningly inhuman.

agreed, what was done here was wrong.

You don't even know what caused this man's death and are willing to JUDGE the officer's actions. Do you know what their manual says?? The cops followed the manual. They are not emergency room diagnosticians who also often get it wrong. There is a quite high rate of deaths from physician mistakes so don't think they are much better than these officers.

Remember something important. Officers getting serious can increase a subjects stress. Keeping a friendly bantering attitude can often be helpful in their line of business reducing stress and aggression.

So I’ve watched the video several times…where is the knee on the neck??? He is held down with hands. I would wonder if that department has had training in recognizing opioid overdose??? Do you have the police report?? Do you have the body camera of what happened up to his being already on the ground and restrained? Do you have the Toxicology report?? What list of facts do you have that you can offer for review before making such a judgement call??

Holding people down when they are on drugs only escalates the problem. Adrenaline rush while on drugs isn’t a good mix. There needs to be a better plan if the police are afraid the person will cause them or someone else harm.

So sorry for this tragedy

I too support the police. But I'm here to tell you that there are some policemen who are sadists. They purposely became police officers so they could deliberately hurt people "legally" . I know this from personal experience. Same as Catholic priests, who became priests so they could easily access young children. There have been plenty of examples of sadistic police.

Great post Dr A! I had heard about this when it happened but only because I was looking for things like that. It's despicable at best and if the western nations don't get over the black, white, rainbow bullshit, NONE OF THEM will survive much longer.

I didnt see any knee on the neck either. I think they did a remarkably good job for nearly half an hour. He was like a raving lunatic and they didn't get upset with him. Why are they making it about the police? I don't even see what killed him, it looked like natural causes.

Buy a few CAPS. You are whacked out on kneeling deaths.

Where is the toxicology report and autopsy? Without them, blaming a knee on the back for the death is a step off the cliff of sanity. If you can talk you are breathing. He was talking. Obviously the knee did not cause the lack of oxygen he was feeling. Blaming cops for the death of every unhealthy drug user they encounter is ludicrous. Expecting cops to have the diagnostic skills of an emergency room physician is also ludicrous.
